How to deal with the setbacks
We’ve all hit that bump in the road, the setback, the problem. What sets people apart is how they react to that bump. Are you one to spin out of control, in despair? Or do you grab a hold of that wheel and steer yourself straight? Whether it’s a school assignment, a work project, or a volunteer mission, we all encounter things that slow us down. You just have to keep in mind that a setback is only temporary and greater things lay ahead.
It is easy just to quit, give up and ignore the hard work you have put into something. But at SparkPeople, we believe in the “two steps forward, one step back” philosophy. So what if something bad happens? Keep moving forward, developing what you have. You’ve already built a solid foundation on which you can rely. Hard work can’t be overlooked.
So how can you react when something doesn’t turn out as you’ve expected? First, be objective. Step back and look at the situation. Take responsibility where it is due, but don’t place blame on others. Is your setback really that significant, or will it just require a little extra exertion on your part? Come to terms with it and then start planning your next move. Ask for help. Don’t be afraid or ashamed to do this. Oftentimes, people are more than willing to give you support and advice, maybe even after being in a similar situation. You don’t have to be perfect; after all, nobody else is.
Bounce back. Reevaluate the goals you should have set for yourself at the beginning and retool them as necessary. Goals should be realistic and specific, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be flexible and are allowed for minor impediments. Instead of looking at your project as a disaster or failure, view it with success. Concentrate on how great it will feel after it is finally done, after you have put your all into it. Instead of focusing on a possible unsatisfactory performance one single time, take a moment to sit back and reward yourself for all that you have accomplished.
Above all, don’t live with regrets. Approach life with perseverance and dedication to the things that matter most to you. Success is never easy. It remains up to you whether you will give up, or fight through the tough battles to earn whatever it is you want.

一、英语议论文写作要点
议论文通过议论或说理来表达作者见解和主张.作者对某一问题持有一种看法,为了使读
者同意自己的看法,提出若干理由,企图说服他人.高中英语议论文的写作要注意以下要点:
1. 论点要鲜明、确切．一篇议论文只能有一个中心论点．论点一般在开头提出，然后加以论证．
2. 论据要充分、可靠．一般是以事实为论据，也可以利用成语，格言，名人名言作为论据．
3. 论证要严密、得法．归纳法（induction）和演绎法（deduction）是议论文常用的论证方法．归纳法的例子为基础，从几个例子和现象中，归纳出某种道理和看法．例如：报纸是一种媒体（medium ），人们可以从中得到现代信息；电视是一种媒体，人们也可以从中获得信息；广播也是媒体，人们同样可以从中获得现代信息．因此我们可以得出结论，其他媒体，如网络等，一定会给人们信息．演绎法以一个或多个看法为基础，从一般论断，演绎到不同事例，再加以论述，最后再回到一般论断上来．例如：所有的媒体都可以给人们提供信息，网络是媒体，因此人们可以从网络中获得信息．在归纳中要注意使用的`例子要充分，不能以点概面．如：（课本高二上p81）：

2. 主体段（main body）．主体段是议论的过程，作者必须有足够的证据．（adequate proofs）来论证自己的观点．一般可提出一个或两个proofs, 并对此用一两句话分别进行阐述．
3. 结论（conclusion）．结论段可以用一两句话来结束文章．同时要注意与引言段呼应，但不能照搬前面的原话．

tutorial center is helpful.
i have studied at a tutorial center for two years. my command of english has improved considerably since i started this course.
at my center, the fees are reasonable. my tutors are qualified teachers. i have been helped a lot by them. they are sincere and kind.
one of my teachers was british. at first, i could not say anything to her. but later i learned how to communicate in english with a westerner.
i think that the tutorial center has given me a lot of confidence in using english.
评注: 第一段提出论点, 体现家教中心是helpful(段划线部分) ,主体段分别从几个方面(划线部分)来阐述家教中心的确有帮助,结论段重申家教中心的作用(划线部分),且语句表达与第一段中的不重复.
三、议论文的写作模式
篇17：六级英语议论文
It is said that parents are the children’s best teachers. Indeed, childen spend most of the time to stay with parents, so they imitate their habits. So the good parents have their ways to educate children, while some hurt their kids by saying the following sentences. Such the following five.
据说，父母是孩子最好的老师。事实上，孩子大部分的时间都和父母在一起，所以他们会潜移默化的受父母一些习惯的影响。所以，优秀的父母有他们的方式来教育孩子，而有一些父母则通过说一下的话语来伤害他们的孩子。比如以下五点。
1. You Idiot

Some parents will say it when the children make mistakes. Acutally, the words of inspiration can work much better.
有些父母在孩子犯错误的时候会说这句话。事实上，鼓励性的话语对孩子更能起作用。
2. Shut up
闭嘴
A rude parent will call their children to be quiet when the kids are making noise or giving their opinion. A good listener is much better than a judger. So let the children give their words.
粗鲁的父母在孩子制造噪音或给出自己的观点的时候会叫他们闭嘴。一个好的倾听者会比专制者要好得多。所以让孩子们发表自己的意见。
3. I will never supervise you
我再也不管你了
Parents like to force their kids to do what they want and treat the kids’ doing as none sense. Once they are angry, they will hurt the kids by saying of leaving them alone. The kids should be respected.
父母喜欢强迫他们的孩子做他们自己想做的事，视孩子所做的为毫无意义。一旦他们感到愤怒，他们会说一些伤害孩子们的话，留下他们自己一个人。孩子们应该得到尊重。
4. When you get the full mark, I will buy…

Most parents like to encourage their kids with full mark. Actually, the meaning of study is to get improvement instead of being the study machine.
大多数父母喜欢用考满分的话来鼓励孩子。实际上，学习的意义在于提高自我，而不是变成学习机器。
5. You only know how to play
你就只知道玩
It is kids’nature and right to play, so parents should not force them to focus on study all the time.
玩是孩子的天性，所以父母不应该强迫他们只沉迷于学习。
