浅析“高分子科学技术导论”双语课程教学初探论文

摘要:

本文通过我校“高分子科学技术导论”双语课程的教学过程,介绍了该课程双语教学的课程设置目的和相关的学科体系建设,以及教材的选择与多媒体教学手段。提出了不同层次本科院校进行双语教学应从实际出发进行专业课程设置,依据不同教学目的进行双语课程体系建设,互动性强的多媒体教学课件与教学手段可以有效提高教学效果。

我国教育部早于就在《关于加强高等学校本科教学工作,提高教学质量的若于意见》中明文要求国内高校积极推动以英语等外语进行的教学模式。而后在1月、1月和202月教育部又多次发文鼓励和推动双语教学的开展。年8月,教育部为落实上述文件精神,引发了((关于启动2007年双语教学示范课程建设项目的通知》(教高司函[2007]137号),更提出从2007年至,共支持建设500门双语教学示范课程。

在高校本科教育中“要创造条件使用英语等外语进行公共课和专业课教学”的目的是加强培养学生利用外语学习专业知识、进行技术交流的能力,这对于我国高等教育与世界接轨具有重要的意义。它有利于培养国际化的人才,而且有利于学生素质的提高和学生今后自身的发展。对于高校工科类本科生来说,无论他们毕业后是攻读更高学位,还是从事各种技术性工作,具备用外语学习专业知识和进行技术交流的能力都是必要的。

1、我国的“双语教学”。

主要是指用汉语与英语两种语言进行非语言学科的教学,为学生营造一种双语双元文化氛围,使学生能够潜移默化地接收两种语言与多元文化环境的熏染

(1)课程设置目的材料学科国际性强,学术理论发展更新快,因此在许多高校都很早开展了双语教学工作。

北京化工大学对“高分子物理”课程也进行了双语教学试验。他们的做法是进行分层教学,即对部分英语水平好的学生实行了双语教学。华东理工大学对“陶瓷基复合材料’,课程进行了双语教学。合肥工业大学也于20开始进行“高分子物理”课程的双语教学,武汉理工大学“材料概论”实行了双语教学,天津大学对材料科学与工程专业“材料概论”课程实行了双语教学,重庆工学院开设了“材料科学与工程导论”课程,唐山学院在三上开设了“材料概论”双语课程等。

我院开展双语教学势在必行。原拟定开设的双语课程是“高分子物理”,这门课程是高分子材料专业学生的专业基础课,学时多,内容杂,理论性强,在以中文讲解过程中尚有部分同学感到学习吃力,且是学生研究生人学考试常考的专业课程。鉴于我校是省属二本院校,学生人学英语水平与重点院校之间就有一定的差距,英语水平又参差不齐,因此从2007级教学计划开始加人了几高分子科学技术导论”这门双语课程,旨在使学生进人专业课学习的同时,全面了解专业知识体系,尤其是帮助一部分学生及早具备一定的专业文献查阅能力。

(2)课程体系建设鉴于前述的教学目的,因此“高分子材料技术导论”课程设置在三年级上期,任选课,18学时,1学分。

该课程教学大纲大体包括高分子学科的基础知识如学科发展建设、高分子材料基本分类与命名等,高分子基本结构知识,高分子材料的合成原理,主要的高分子材料及其基本性质和简单的高分子材料加工内容。原定为任选的意义在于实质上实行分级教学,即英语水平好的同学选修,为自己更早更快地进行外文文献的查阅及外文教材的学习打下更好的基础;而“高分子材料技术导论”的内容实际包括了整个专业课程设置中的“高分子化学”、“高分子物理”和“高分子材料成型工艺学”,即使英语水平相对较差不选修的学生,也不会因此而使整个学习的平台短缺。

(3)教学方法与体会在实际教学中。

确立了教学目标与体系设置后,首先遇到的就是教材选择的问题。它是影响学生对课程消化吸收的一个重要环节。对于双语教学,我校制定了几种方案,其中包括对教材选用、课堂英文使用比例和板书中英文比例等的规定。既是双语教学,其目的旨在加强培养学生利用外语学习专业知识、进行技术交流的能力。因此,教材选用外文原版教材应该是最佳选择。诚然,不少优秀的英文原版教材确实比国内的教材更能反映世界上最新最前沿的知识,且语言原汁原味,但在实际使用中,大多数老师都有这样的认识,即其存在与我国教学大纲不完全相符、内容过于全面且难度无法调节等问题,在实际讲课过程中,教师为了照顾到各个层次的学生和教学大纲的要求往往对教材内容进行选择性讲解,实际教学内容覆盖率低,且学生学习起来知识点散,不易系统组织,同时也造成了教材的浪费(原版英文教材或引进影印版的定价相对都不菲)。

外文原版教材直接拿来就用,效果打折;而国内出版的双语教材相对较少,适合的也不多见。针对教材问题,我选择的是化学工业出版社引进的“国外名校名著”系列,JoelR。Fried著的“polymerscienceandtechnology“,同时参考了David LBowe:的“an introduction to polymer physics”,L.H.Sperling的“introduction to polymer physical science”和天津大学出版的“introduction to materials”。

在此基础上,我制作了与本学院教学大纲配套的多媒体课件。课件使用全英文板书,内容精练,R辅以大量图片,形象清晰,既弥补了教材的不足,也使学生易于掌握重要知识。在使用多媒体课件时,提前把课件主要内容打印出来给学生进行预习,而把其中重点的词汇(知识点概念)预留下来。这样,一方面学生可以在课前预习中根据课件内容看相关部分知识,对要学习的内容做大致了解,另一方面,课堂上减少了做笔记的时间,同时根据老师的讲解,只记录那些余下的重要的概念名词。既能够留出更多时间用于听老师讲课,理解专业知识内容而不过多的停留在单词本意的认知上,又让学生自己动手抄写重要的名词,强化了记忆。

通过双语教学发现,学生中那些英语程度较好的,一般比较欢迎双语教学课,甚至希望在课程体系设置内加大双语教学课程比例及课堂英语讲授的比例;但英语基础较差的,甚至根本听不懂也看不懂的学生,则对双语课程有抵触情绪,不太愿意配合老师的课堂教学,更无论课前预习和课后复习、作业的要求了。这一方面与学生的英语基础能力有关,另一方面也与由此而形成的学生对于英语教学课程的兴趣有关。但通过这一学期的授课我认为在没有专业英语课程学习之前,开设专业性强的双语课程,对于仅仅有大学英语基础的学生来讲,难度还是有些过大了。学生阅读外文教材或参考书所需要花费的时间很多,对于三年级专业基础课程任务相对还比较重的学生学习来说,占用的精力让一些学生也不能胜任。

2、结合本学期的授课情况和学生最后的学习情况。我对做好双语教学工作有以下几点建议。

(1)为了优化教学效果,宜采用选修课的`课程设置形式,尤其是分班式教学。

课程设置主要取决于双语课程设置的目的。如果是普遍提高学生对于英语专业知识的认知,必须学习的课程,可以进行分层教学。不同的班级采用双(英)语教学的比例不同;如果是使学生提前进行英语专业知识的讲授,目的在于使一部分有能力的学生先可以进行外文文献的查阅,可以做一些选修课。此外,对于理论知识相对较浅的一些专业课程,如“豁结剂”或“高分子材料学”等,在三下“专业英语”课程学过之后开设成双语课程也应该较适宜。如天津科技大学开设了“高分子粘合剂”双语课程,取得了一定成绩。

但是,有的学校为了使学生适应大量专业单词而把双语教学与专业英语课程融合成一门课程的做法,我觉得还有待进一步商榷。因为专业英语是一门语言性学科,着重于专业词汇的记忆与文章理解翻译等内容;而无论哪种性质的双语课程都应该是专业知识性的教学。个人以为,也可以在二年级开设“科技英语”课程,代替通常的专业英语,比如材料学科可以选择融合金属、陶瓷与高分子材料在内的专业英文文献,这样,在三年级开设各门双语课程只需辅以少量专业词汇为基础,而不影响正常的知识性教学进程。

(2)多媒体的应用对于双语教学的课堂教学有着显著的积极的作用。

教学过程中应进一步提高多媒体制作技术,增加全英文影像资料,会更有利于学生学习积极性和课堂学习的兴趣,丰富讲授内容,真正起到导论课的讲授意义。

课堂讲授过程中进一步增加学生的参与,设置一些与日常生活相关的知识性问题,进一步增加教学过程的互动性也是今后教学中应慢慢加强的一个环节。

在原理的后面把试验仪器写上。

照着做。

一般情况是求平均值,标准偏差那些。

书上有。

注意:小数点的位数一定要正确。

4.试验结果:把上面处理好的数据处理的结果写出来。

5.讨论。

如果那个试验的后面有思考题就把思考提回答了。

如果没有就自己想,写点总结性的话。

或者书上抄一两句比较具有代表性的句子。

实验报告大部分是抄的。

建议你找你们学长学姐借他们当年的实验报告。

还有,如果试验数据不好,就自己捏造。

尤其是看到坏值,什么都别想,直接当没有那个数据过,仿着其他的数据写一个。

For many students in the UK today, deciding whether or not to go to university can be as much about affordability as it is about ambition and aspiration.

In times gone by, students in the UK could apply to a university or college safe in the knowledge that, even if they came from a low income family, their tuition fees and some of their living(or maintenance) costs would be covered by a local authority grant. A university education was, in a financial sense, open to all and the number of students attending university grew year on year.

Sadly, it seems, those days are long gone. The turning point came in 1998, when the Labour Government introduced tuition fees of £1,000 a year and, instead of giving students a maintenance grant, asked them to cover their own living expenses with a repayable student loan. Only students on the lowest incomes were entitled to a grant.

The flood gates had been opened. As time passed, the ceiling on tuition fees rose, and although applicants from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales still qualified for varying levels of subsidy, by 2009/10 students in England often found themselves facing tuition fees in excess of £3,000 a year.

But the biggest change was still to come. In 2011 the Government announced that, from 2012, universities could charge fees of up to £9,000 a year. Although the Government sweetened the pill by stating that postgraduates did not have to begin repaying their student loans until they were earning more than £21,000 a year, the news created outrage. Many students argued that it was unfair that students should have to begin their work life saddled with huge debt, while others complained that the changes would bring back a class divide to university education. These views were reflected in the number of students applying for a university place, which by January 2012 fell by more than 22,000. The Universities Minister, David Willetts, stood by the decision to increase tuition fees, saying that they would not “put universities’ finance on a sustainable footing” and facilitate “a stronger focus on high quality teaching.”
